About Us

Stamford High School

Stamford High is proud of its students' achievements with respect to college admissions, scholarships, and specialized awards in numerous areas.

Stamford High School continues to provide SAT preparation opportunities to targeted students in both the English and Mathematics Departements resulting in increased scores on both the verbal and math portions for students at all achievement levels. Classes are available daily, after school, and via enrichment through an in-house expert. Instruction has been aligned in all core areas and electives to the expectations of the Connecticut Academic Performance Test (CAPT).

A Writing Lab was established in 2004-2005. English teachers assisted all students with improving their skills in this area. Calsses or individual students were identified for intensive assistance.

SHS' school wide staff development goal was to work in study groups to evaluate student work to inform and improve instruction. All students were required to set a minimum of two individual goals in all their classes. Students evaluated their own level of success. A cohort of teachers were trained in team teaching and AVID in preparation for the 2005-2006 school year.
