Parent Teacher Organization
FRIENDS OF STAMFORD HIGH/PTO - WELCOME
We are a group of parents, alumni and city residents interested in helping the administration and the teachers provide the BEST possible education for our children at Stamford High School.
We provide funding for classroom materials and experiences NOT included in the budget such as cameras for Year Book and Round Table and special calculators for the math department. (Dare to Dream)
We provide college scholarships for graduating seniors. (Scholarship)
We provide a drug and alcohol free after prom party for seniors and their guests. (After Prom)
We provide a welcome back lunch for teachers and staff. (Hospitality)
We provide a Teacher Appreciation breakfast in the spring. (Hospitality)
We host five meetings a year which provide the school community with direct access to our administration. Principal Ray Manka attends all of our meetings and provides new information about what is going on in the school.
We rely on parent participation. It takes lots of hands to make our events happen. We encourage you to get in touch with us firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com to join one of our committees.
We rely heavily on parent donations. All donations are tax-deductible. We host only 2 fundraising event a year to make all of this possible:
- Celebration of the Arts- food, spirits, music, student performances, silent auctions and more!
This year’s event will take place on Friday, November 18th at the Stamford Sheraton.(Gala)
- Fashion Show- An evening when SHS Juniors model casual wear and seniors model prom attire.(Fashion Show)

The Stamford High School PTO encourages active involvement of parents, faculty (teachers and staff) and students in promoting school spirit and a positive academic, athletic and social environment.
You are Already a Member
All parents, guardians and faculty are members of the PTO. In addition to the Executive Board (see Executive Board names/contact information), committees have been established to carry out the PTO sponsored events. Scholarship, Dare to Dream, Fashion Show, and After Prom Party committees are looking for your help. Please consider signing up!
Attend a Meeting
There are general meetings held during the school year providing information regarding school issues as well as subjects of interest. The dates of these meetings are noted on the website (calendar of meetings).
Offer Your Support and be In Touch
Voluntary tax-deductible donations to the PTO enable funding to support a variety of academic and extra-curricular activities at SHS. Please complete the participation form with your contact information so that we can keep you up to date regarding events. The form outlines monetary and manpower donations necessary to have a well-run PTO. Please consider helping in any capacity. (participation form) The PTO relies on the generous help of countless parents and is only limited by the number of volunteers who are willing to be involved. We welcome your participation, suggestions and comments.

The FOSH Scholarship Program has been created to celebrate and rewards students who demonstrate exceptional service to SHS. She scholarships are cash awards that are to be used toward post-secondary tuition or school fees.
Any senior student who will be attending a college, university or accredited trade school directly after high school graduation and who has maintained a minimum of 2.5 GPA on their cumulative high school transcript, is eligible for the scholarship selection process.
